3/31/2009 - Understanding the World of RSSThousands of business owners around the world are using blogs and RSS feeds to benefit their businesses. RSS feeds are useful because they provide readers with a news feed of relevant information which in turn helps to increase website traffic. Receiving an RSS feed is much more efficient then receiving endless newsletters by email. Feeds are valuable in the sense that the reader doesn’t have to go looking for the information. The news is delivered to them and they can choose whether to read it, click it, print it or ignore it. The easiest way to use an RSS feed is with an RSS newsreader. This allows you to get regular updates on everything from weather, to sports, to ads to stocks. You can even add a news feed to your MSN homepage if you like! RSS feeds are growing increasingly popular and aren’t showing any signs of slowing down. In this day and age, people appreciate receiving news that is catered to their specific interests and needs. Long live the RSS feed! |
3/10/2009 - The importance of offering RSS subscriptionToday, blogs are more popular than they’ve ever been before. Giving readers the option to subscribe to a feed by mail is important and helps to build a community of faithful followers. The most convenient way to find blogs is to use a feed reader like Google Reader. Once you find an interesting blog that you would like to subscribe to your channel, you can use an RSS feed reader to see when it’s been updated. If you do not use the RSS feed reader, you need to add the blog to your favorites and enter the menu of the browser every time you visit a different blog. This can cause problems such as slow loading times for websites and advertisements. My suggestion is that once you have a blog ready, you register a server and feed them to your visitors before you start publicizing. Even if your blog is already underway, it's never too late to offer this type of facility.

1/20/2009 -Pingvine publishes content from any RSS feed into Twitter, Ping.fm or Indenti.caTwitterfeed is an automatic publication of the activities we have done elsewhere on the Twitter timeline. Activities include the latest entries and new photos that are available via the web RSS channel activity that we want to share.Pingvine is similar but is somewhat different, as it allows us to set up without prior registration and to obtain and publish the latest content from any RSS on Twitter, Ping.fm or Indenti.ca. This publication process can range from 60 seconds to days. This process is fairly simple and straightforward. All you need to do is enter the URL of the Atom or RSS feed that you want to share and determine the frequency. If you want to remove any RSS feed, you follow the same steps, but you select the 'remove' button so the content of the feed does not return again.

9/4/2007 - can we do it? one million feeds, can you donate just a dollar for our project? You might have noticed the new banner the last couple days on the site. We are doing well in our pursuit to organise one million RSS feeds. However, in thinking some over the weekend, we thought it would be cool to put out a challenge to everyone to match just a dollar for every feed in our project. If you have a feed listed, it's free of course to add, but if you can donate a dollar to the project, that would be great. I will start posting updates to the total amount we have raised for the project. Thanks for sharing us, blogging about us, and continuing to support our efforts! Just click on the banner below :) Cheers! Matthew7/4/2007 - What do you want? Calling for feature requests...There is nothing that makes a community better than you, the users. With that being said, what features would you like to see on the millionRSS project? We are here to help give you the best RSS directory out there, so let us know what you would like to see more of or see less of! Bring on the requests! Please submit your ideas and suggestions here! Cheers! Matthew6/25/2007 - Sorry for the inconvenience - the site has been down for about 3 days now It seems that an upstream provider from our ISP shut down external access to the millionRSS project via our ISP. It should be noted that while at one time we had the actual content from the RSS feeds in our directory project on the site, they were 1. never stored on the millionRSS server (they were pulled in real time from the RSS feed source, and 2. We are no longer showing the actual content from the feed posts in each RSS feed we have in our project. We only show the post title from the RSS feed we have in our directory and provide a link to the site that offers the content. We did this to make sure that we weren't violating any copyright or intellectual property inadvertently by just showing the actual feed details and content on the fly - the site only will show titles to each RSS post and no content to the each post. This alleviates the millionRSS project from ever displaying any content that might be posted on the web illegally. We are back up and running as the millionRSS directory project and hope you find the RSS feeds you wan to subscribe to. As always, if you have any feedback how we can make the project even better, please let us know! Cheers! Matthew
